Leopard Geckos (Eublepharis macularius) are a type of gecko from the genus Eublepharus (Eye-lid geckos). They can be found throughout Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran and also northwest India. The reptiles are nocturnal, sheltering under rocks or in burrows in daylight. Ground color is usually yellow with irregular black spots and a white ventrum. Due to the popularity of these animals in the pet trade, other color patterns may be found, such as the "high color" or "yellow phase" Leopard Geckos are about 7-10 inches long (17.5-25 cm) and weigh about 4-5 ounces.
