Green Iguanas (Iguana iguana) occur throughout Central and South America. This reptile also inhabits many islands throughout the Caribbean region and the coastal eastern Pacific, and has been introduced into southern Florida and in Hawaii where it is considered an invasive species. Iguana iguana are arboreal lizards that generally live high in the tree canopy, but they have adapted to living in more open areas near the ground as well. Their diet includes fruits, flowers, leaves and insects. They are large lizards which can grow up to six and a half feet in length and twenty-two pounds in weight.
